How To Use Clary Sage Oil In Daily Life
When using essential oils, it's important to remember that they are for topical use only and should never be ingested. When used on your skin, they must be mixed with a carrier oil, because essential oils are highly concentrated and can burn your skin if not mixed properly. That's why using essential oils in a diffuser, on a cloth and inhaling, on a hot compress, mixed with carrier oils to make a massage oil or abdominal/chest rub or adding to your bath water are all great ways to reap the benefits of the oils without harming your health.
Clary sage oil also pairs well with bergamot, lavender and rosemary oils as their scent profiles complement each other.
Cautions & Considerations When Using Essential Oils
Because of Clary Sage's ability to promote menstruation, this oil should be avoided in pregnancy. It can also have a significant relaxing effect that has been compared to narcotics, which is beneficial for the treatment of stress, but clary sage should be avoided when drinking or performing activities that require concentration like driving.
So many essential oils are dangerous for cats to inhale. They lack an enzyme in their liver to process these oils and so they can be toxic. Clary Sage is one of the few that is safe. It smells like tea and it's very calming. Put it in my atomizer daily.
Hello, Marni,
Cats are very sensitive to essential oils whether you're diffusing them or they're left out and a cat knocks them over. There are also oils that are toxic to dogs as well. It's important to take the proper precautions when using them around pets or applying them to your skin.
