Updated Mar. 09th, 2022
Wintergreen oil has a sweet and fresh scent, similar to mint.
Native to North America, where this minty-sweet plant grows wild, Wintergreen has been used for centuries by the Native Americans who used to chew the leaves to freshen breath and aid in respiratory function. Wintergreen has sweet, refreshing aroma that is similar to other species of the mint family. The main constituent in wintergreen oil is methyl salicylate, which has been long studied for its medicinal anti-inflammatory and pain-reducing properties. In fact, this constituent is a very close relative to aspirin.
