What is Arnica?
Arnica, also called wolfs bane or leopards
bane, produces a yellow flower and is a member of the daisy family (compositaceae
or asteraceae.)
Arnica preparations have been and still are very popular as a remedy for
sprains, bruises, and various swellings. Arnica is often used in
homoeopathic preparations for the same indications. The German Commission E
recognizes the topical use of arnica for injuries and sequels of accidents
(e.g. hematoma, sprains, contusions and edema due to fractures); rheumatic
muscle and joint problems; inflammation caused by insect bites; superficial
phlebitis.
What does Atrosan Gel contain and when should it be taken?
Atrosan Gel is made from fresh Arnica flowers. The main components,
sesquiterpenes lactones, reduce inflammation and pain especially of the
muscles and joints. Arnica contains several other active ingredients
including thymol, flavonoids, carotenoids inulin, tannis and coumarins. Its
easy to apply and provides immediate soothing relief leaving no greasy
feeling.
What is the difference between arthritis, arthrosis, gout and
rheumatism?
Arthritis: Joint inflammation. Often used to indicate a group of more
than 100 rheumatic diseases.
Arthrosis: Chronic, degenerative and non-inflammatory disease that primarily
affects cartilage, causing it to fray, wear, ulcerate, and in extreme cases,
disappear entirely, leaving a bone on bone joint.
Gout: Type of arthritis that results from too much uric acid in the body.
This causes pain, swelling and tenderness in the joints. Gout most often
affects the big toe but can also affect the ankle, knee, foot, hand, wrist
and elbow.
Rheumatism: Used to describe any painful conditions of muscles, tendons,
joints and bones.
What else can be done to reduce pain due to cartilage degeneration?
Fast food, cigarette, on-going stress, upset glandular and immune systems
are factors which influence muscular and joint inflammation.
Special attention to your diet is recommended. As much as possible, avoid
tea, coffee, alcohol, dairy products, eggs, red meat and fast food.
Eat lots of fruits and fresh vegetables.
Stretching exercises help maintain or recover muscle and tendon flexibility. |
