Inno-Krill
Derived from Antarctic krill (a shrimp-like creature inhabiting the cold waters of the Antarctic Ocean), Neptune Krill Oil (NKO) has clinically demonstrated the ability to protect the heart, act as an anti-inflammatory, alleviate premenstrual symptoms, improve skin health, and support well-being.
NKO is rich in omega-3 fatty acids which are among the most researched of all nutrients and are acclaimed for their heart-healthy properties. NKO is distinct from other marine oils in that the omega-3 fatty acids it contains are attached to phospholipids, which act as superior delivery systems.
What makes Krill oil different from fish oil omega-3?
It differs due to its chemical structure. In this product, the Omega 3's are attached to a phospholipid backbone.Fish oils are naturally found as a triglycerides. The difference between a phospholipid and triglyceride is that in the phospholipid form, we see that the Omega 3's are much better absorbed. And of course you can't get any benefit from a therapeutic compound if you're not able to absorb it properly.
Is it better for the environment?
One of the things that's important to keep in mind is that the Krill Industry is one of the most tightly regulated fisheries. There is a group made up of 28 different member nations that tightly regulates the harvest. When you look at the numbers, we're far from having any significant environmental impact to the population.
Does it have less toxins?
It is an extremely clean source. It is harvested from the Antarctic Ocean, which is protected from the outside ocean environment through its circumpolar currents that essentially act almost as a physical barrier keeping all the toxins that are present in the other parts of the ocean away. This means that it is very low in a lot of the other toxins that are found in fish oil.
What does it contain?
It contains a lot more than just the Omega 3's EPA and DHA. This is because it is extracted in a way that is closer to its food source format. It also contains the antioxidant astaxanthin, and choline, vitamin A and vitamin D, and a number of other nutrients that are naturally found in krill.
What are the therapeutic applications?
Natural health practitioners recommend it for cholesterol and cardiovascular health in general, osteoarthritis, any type of inflammation, as well as PMS in women.
Daily Dosage.
It is determined by the condition in question. For cholesterol reasons, take anywhere from 1 to 1 and a half grams per day. For osteoarthritis or inflammation, 1 500 milligram soft gel is sufficient. For PMS symptoms, typically take about 2 grams a day.
