Vitex Combo (Femance® Menopause ) : For Menopausal
Femance® Smooth Transition® has been formulated specifically for treating
menopausal symptoms. Hot flashes, for example, occur in three out of every
four women. The ingredients in this formula have hundreds of years of
traditional use behind them. Modern clinical and laboratory work confirms
that they effectively treat symptoms that include not only hot flashes but
vaginal dryness, anxiety, insomnia, and fatigue.
The lead three herbs in this formula – namely chastetree, black cohosh, and
dong quai work together in superb synergy, combining to provide the body
with natural hormone-balancing mechanisms, each with its own strong suit.
Naturopathic physician Dr. William Mitchell suggests a combination of the
above three herbs for treating menopausal symptoms; the other herbs in this
formula augment their hormone-regulating benefits. The remaining ingredients
effectively address key symptomatic issues related to menopause. These
include cardiac dysfunction and mood or depression problems. HRT is
associated with unwanted side effects such as cancer – thus the desire to
find suitable natural alternatives. When faced with the painful symptoms of
menopause, consider Femance® Smooth Transition® as a natural therapeutic

A NOTE ON TINCTURES
Tinctures are more readily absorbed by the body and have a high degree of
bio-availability. As well, they have a long shelf life.
Sometimes people ask us why tinctures are alcohol-based. There are very good
reasons. Alcohol is critically important in the extraction of an herb's
medicinal ingredients. It also helps to stabilize and preserve them. Alcohol
is the ideal carrier substance, conveying the therapeutic goodness of the
herb to the body. In itself, too, science has proven that alcohol enhances
the immune system and its defences.
As for the amount of alcohol taken in an average dose of tincture, you'll be
surprised to learn that it's about the same as what you'd find in an overly
Tinctures remain the most practical way to take advantage of the amazing,
health-giving power of herbs.
Chase Tree Berry
Chaste tree received its name from the ancient Greeks and Romans because
they believed that it decreased the female libido, thus ensuring chastity.
It has been eaten and worn by Monks to promote celibacy. Its modern
medicinal uses are also related to sex hormones. The active ingredients of
chaste tree have been noted to affect the pituitary gland.
This gland is located in the brain and produces hormones that stimulate the
production of sex hormones in other areas of the body. It also contains
chemicals that have the ability to stimulate human progesterone receptors
and favour the production of luteinizing hormone over follicle stimulating
hormone. These hormones are used in the female body to support pregnancy and
lactation, but their effects can also help other female complaints.
Natural health practitioners recommended chaste tree for conditions such as
PMS, acne and menstrual cramps; hot flashes, vaginal dryness and other
menopausal symptoms; insufficient milk production and first trimester
Chaste tree can be purchased as a loose herb, tincture or encapsulated herb.
Better quality supplements are standardized which is an assurance that the
product contains chaste tree and has some active properties. The berry
contains the greatest concentration of active ingredients.
Although natural health practitioners sometimes recommend it to pregnant
women, chaste tree may induce menstruation and should be used cautiously. It
may alter hormonal cycles and theoretically can interfere with birth control
pills and hormone replacement therapy. It alters dopamine levels and may
affect drugs for seizures, Parkinson’s and mental disorders.

My patients and I all love it!
Vitex Combo is one of the botanical products I couldn't live without. As a
practitioner who sees a large number of peri and menopausal women in my
practice, I have seen the dramatic effects it can have on hot flashes, sleep
disruption and mood. My patients and I all love it!

Personally, I have had much success with the tinctures.
“Personally, I have had much success with the tinctures, especially the
Borage `B’ Combo, which I recently discovered to be fabulously effective for
fibromyalgia, with results noticeable within a week. I would not want to be
be without the Astragalus Combo, which I use frequently in children with
chronically weak immune systems, or the Cleavers Combo for infections, not
to mention the Vitex Combo for my female patients with hormonal
disturbances. I often use the Oat and Passionflower tinctures for children
with ADD/ADHD and other behavioral problems, and who could forget the Ear
Oil for little ones with ear infections, often providing immediate relief
for child and parent alike. I also love the Usnea Combo for coughs, even
though it tastes terrible; it is very effective.”
