Echinaforce is made from the tincture of fresh ECHINACEA purpurea herb and root. Only fresh, organic herbs are used, with all herbs processed within 24 hours of harvesting. Using only fresh herbs helps us ensure that we preserve a high level of active ingredients.
Echinaforce has been proven to be effective in the treatment of colds and flu. It helps the body fight the virus and therefore helps you feel better, quicker. Available in both fresh herb tincture and tincture tablet format, Echinaforce is easy to take at any time. Vogel described Echinaforce as his 'best remedy in practice' and took it every day.
Echinaforce Clinical Studies
In recent years there have been several clinical studies using Echinacea. Some have shown a negative result. Others, like the study done by Dr Brinkeborn on the organic fresh herb tincture, Echinaforce, have been positive. Brinkeborn found that those using Echinaforce experienced a 63% reduction in their cold and flu symptoms compared to 29% in the placebo group.
So it is clear that certain extracts were more effective than others but why?
Bioforce, the fresh herb tincture manufacturer that Alfred Vogel created in 1963, and researchers from a leading University, recently discovered Echinacea's mode of action. They have found that the Alkylamides within the herb modulate the action of the immune system, supporting the body's natural healing process.
Earlier research carried out by Dr Martin Tobler has shown that fresh herb tinctures like Echinaforce contain up to 2.5 times more Alkylamides than extracts made from dried herbs as Alkylamides, being volatile, are lost in the drying process
Alfred Vogel pioneered fresh herbal tinctures as he was convinced that herbal medicines made from freshly harvested herbs are more effective, an opinion now confirmed by research
Why Echinacea purpurea?
Bioforce has studied many research papers on Echinacea and purpurea has been shown to be most effective in its actions.
A German researcher called Bauer has done the most pertinent research on Echinacea. Using carbon clearance test (measuring the rate at which carbon particles are cleared from the blood stream) he found that Echinacea purpurea had a stronger effect on the immune system than other species of Echinacea. He also identified the levels of chicoric acid in Echinacea purpurea as being higher than in other species. Chicoric acid causes a marked stimulation of phagocytosis, as well as having antiviral activity. Phagocytosis is the process by which white blood cells called phagocytes ingest and destroy harmful micro- organisms. (Bauer R, Wagner H. Echinacea. Ein Hanbuch fur Artze, Apotheker und andere Naturwissenschafter. Stuggart: wissenschaftliche Verlagsgessellschaft, 1990.pp182.)
How long can I take Echinacea?
Echinaforce can be taken long term if necessary. It does not over stimulate the immune system nor does it lose its effectiveness when taken over a period of time. If you are normally healthy, we recommend taking Echinaforce as and when it's needed: at the first sign of a cold, or if you suddenly catch one. If however you tend to catch infections all winter, it is advisable to take 20 drops each day without a break.
