I wonder exactly what the cutoff is for "dandruff". My sense was that everybody had it, to some extent. It would be nice to know exactly what the 50% means, and how exactly yjat this number is gotten.

For me, if I have more dandruff than usual, I typically think about the hair care I have done. So, have I changed my shampoo or my conditioner? Did I have a busy week, so I skipped a shower? Is it very warm or humid or whatever out and now, my hair is doing different things with the moisture? Etc. It is good to know, that diet and nutrients also matter for this. I will think of that too, if I have bother from dandruff again

It is great that there are so many natural treatments and lifestyle adjustments that can be made in order to treat dandruff. I myself used to struggle with this issue but it was largely resolved by increasing the amount of healthy fats in my diet (I still consume a tablespoon of flax daily...I also consume avocado and nuts/seeds other than flax daily & I supplement with wheat germ on a regular basis). Re neem I recall using this for a time and it worked well...I might start using it for my scalp health again, NN!

Hello Paul,

Indeed, essential oils always need to be properly mixed with a carrier oil before applying to the skin to avoid burning. Peppermint and Rosemary are great oils to mix with castor oil for the scalp. If you'd like to learn more about essential oils, check out our Youtube series:

I feel like I’ve tried everything. I’ve tried all kinds of medicated dandruff shampoos but they never eliminated 100% of the dandruff. I will try increasing the hcl levels and using neem or tea oil in the hair. I do agree that to eliminate dandruff, we can’t rely only on shampoos and must also address our diet to support overall health and nourish the hair and skin from the inside. Exfoliating the scalp can also be beneficial.
