Re probiotics, you have some good ideas on thinking about what to supplement with but in my opinion, the best course of action is to turn straight to the research for the paticular condition of interest. The NIH has a handy guide summarizing research for probiotics in various conditions which can be found here: https://www.nccih.nih.gov/health/probiotics-usefulness-and-safety

Overall, there is great evidence for probiotics for particular conditions and emerging evidence in others. I think that personalized medicine will really see this area blossom in the future!

I especially liked reading the part of detoxing lungs, I didn't know ginger peppermint tea could do that, thanks for that info. I will try it. As for the other areas I take Milk Thistle all the time, the tea doesn't have much taste but I can feel it working inside the tincture is much better and relaxes in the evening when mixed with valerian. In addition, I take Dandelion as as a tea for its root benefits as well as capsules I mix in with other teas, it goes well with adaptogens to destress and detoxify at the same time. I liked Burdock root as well, nice flavour, nice and strong root teas. Sarsaparilla mixed with Yellowdock is nice too. Alfalfa tea although not the best taste but also works. I take that with Chlorophyll. I also have Spirulina. Cilantro/Parsley is also a way to detox. Mix Parsley with Fenugreek for a treat.

Very interesting and informative article. It thoroughly went through many detox processes and supplements that can also aid in detoxing your body. I have heard of a few of the things listed in the article however many of them were new to me. It was interesting to learn that toxins can stay in your body for years and cause ongoing problems later on! This article really opened up my eyes on the importance of detoxing! Thanks!

Hello Paul,

Fasting is a lifestyle choice that is gaining in popularity in Western culture. It does provide the digestive system with a break which can offer it time to heal if needed. While this can act as a detox process, some people need a little extra boost to detox certain organs or to get things moving, that's where gentle detox boosting supplements would be beneficial. Milk Thistle and Chlorophyll are popular detox supplements that you can learn more about here:

Intermittent fasting is more of a lifestyle than a diet, a designation often identified as one of the keys to weight loss and maintaining a healthy body composition.

People consume calories only during a specific time of the day, typically following a recommended protocol, such as a 16-hour fast, eight-hour feast or occasional 24-hour fasts.

One common protocol involves skipping breakfast — once believed to be the most important meal of the day — and eating daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Water, black coffee and other non-caloric beverages are allowed while fasting. Eating periods should include mostly healthy options instead of processed foods, refined grains, high-calorie drinks and added sugar.
