This kind of swelling, it is bad beyond bloat. I have never had it happen to me. But a relative suffers from it. And I know about it happening in starving or people low in nutrition, for some reason. From what I hear it is awful. I thought edema was a more severe swelling syndrome. I did not realize, that it could happen from regular menstrual cycle. That is a good note. That, edema can be normal. Though, not all the time. I wonder how many other people, besides myself has had this misconception about edema?

I have always found the fact that the water content of our bodies should hover about 70% rather amazing!: sometimes, we think about how much water is in fruits and vegetables/eating these things to stay hydrated and it is interesting to think that we are also very hydrated beings. Edema sounds very unpleasant! I did not know that edema could be pitting or nonpitting, with pitting edema being demonstrated by the act of applying firm pressure to an area of edema causing an indentation that lasts for several seconds to minutes after the pressure is withdrawn, the edema is referred to as pitting. Thank you for teaching me this!
