Hello Rachel,
Happy you enjoyed our fun article and thank you for sharing your favourite highlights. Since you mentioned that you enjoyed learning how asthma can be heightened in cold temperatures, we think you'll enjoy our article on asthma so you can discover more about this health concern: https://www.nationalnutrition.ca/articles/health-concerns/asthma/

I enjoyed this festive article of yours, NN: I love when you write articles with a fun, conversational tone and good facts to boot. I did not know that writing can actually improve CD4+ lymphocyte counts: I study CD4+ T cells and am writing my thesis currently, so I will be sure to make a joke about this to my PI. Also, the fact that holidays tend to involve a cold due to the body's sudden drop in adrenaline and immune relaxation...that's one of my personal favorite facts :) (knew it already but it's still a great one!). Finally, I didn't know asthma and pulmonary disorders can also be heightened in cold temperatures: I'm interested in the mechanism because I know for healthy people, breathing is easier in the cold due to more oxygen per breath!

Hello, Rachel,
Exactly, life is about balance and moderation and the same goes for diet. You can make healthy swaps and still enjoy indulgence or make them in a healthier way. Indeed eating well will help bolster your immune system which is much needed during the holidays and winter months. We're glad you enjoyed this one and hope you like the recipes you try as well.

Have a. healthy day!

It's so nice to see a health for the holidays guide that isn't about swinging too far to either side (eg restriction or indulgence). I feel, as your points clearly outline, enjoying life in stride and balance is healthiest of all! I love the tone throughout this article. The natural cold and flu prevention tips at the end were the best part...and again, you are spot on with the science: the immune system "relaxing" as soon as stress winds down is a sure recipe for colds
