My mom has the beginning of Alzheimer's, so I come on here to find out how I can help her. She's hard to convince and will ignore all advice about herbs, but slow progress is being made. I take gingko biloba every now and then. I know I am supposed to take it for months before seeing results. It's supposed to be good for the brain, memory. I take it with Bilberry also good for eyes, and they all seem to go well with Gotu Kola tea, which I take for energy. Red Korean Ginseng is another supplement I take, but more for energy than anything else. And st. john’s wort calms me right down, glad to hear it also improved the mind somewhat.

I like a lot of your careful notes in this article, NN, including that while fish do typically contain essential fatty acids that promote brain health, fish also are commonly contaminated with heavy metals. I would like to add the detail that fish get these healthy essential acids from the microalgae that they consume and that this microalgae can be consumed by humans safely, without fear of heavy metal contamination or environmental harm. In fact, I take a microalgae omega 3 every day in order to support my mood and mental functioning!
