This recipe would actually be awesome as a grain bowl too. I know not crunchy, but hear me out!: everything in here is super flavorful and I think that a grain bowl would be such a fun riff on this recipe. I also think that it would be particularly great because dry heat is known to increase the formation of advanced glycation end products, especially in foods that are rich in unsaturated and monounsaturated fats like nuts and also I do not ever like the idea of heating flax because it is an omega 3 and so the fat is not very stable and is oxidation prone.

This granola recipe looks awesome and full of wholesome ingredients. I love the use of coconut oil for two main reasons. First, coconut oil is delicious and carries flavors well in addition to having its own distinct and delightfully satisfying, refreshing flavor. Second, coconut oil is low in its formation of unhealthful advanced glycation end products, or AGEs. This recipe has a lot of wonderful healthful and delicious ingredients like walnuts and flax (great for the heart health omega 3 fatty acids). I have never made my own granola before but now want to; thank you for the inspiration, NN! :)

Hello,
Indeed, store bought packaged granola can have other ingredients in them that don't make them as healthy as this homemade recipe. Granola is great for a breakfast food or snack and pairs well with fruit, protein yogurt or nutritious nuts and dried fruit for a trail mix. Enjoy this recipe along with some others of ours, including this one we think you'll like, https://www.nationalnutrition.ca/articles/healthy-recipes/no-bake-apple-spice-freezer-bars/

Stay healthy & well

I love how this makes making your own granola so simple and easy! It is always something that I look at in grocery stores when I am out shopping in the breakfast aisles and it is so great to know how simple it can be to make your own and that way healthier too since you know exactly what you are putting into it and can customize it exactly how you like it! This recipe looks great and is so well put together, thank you for sharing!
