Hello Kaveh,
Excellent, salmon oil is great for a dose of fatty acids. Since you enjoy taking fatty acids for brain health, learn more about DHA here: https://www.nationalnutrition.ca/articles/supplements/supplement-articles-dha-docosahexanoic-acid/

I take Co-Enzyme Q10 with my Salmon Oil from Alaska, I take this for the fat content as well as the fatty acids that are good for the brain. DHA in particular, it's also available from anchovies and sardines. I want to increase absorption. The other option is to add it to a smoothie with fat, as I have the veggie cap version, not the softgel. Next time, I will try it with Matcha, as I hear it goes well together. It's brain helping benefits are especially important to me as I am interested in reducing ill effects in the brain.

Hello Rachel,
Thank you for your comment. We appreciate your dedication to brain health. As a vegan, it can be challenging to obtain these essential nutrients from diet alone. It's great that you are aware of the benefits of omega 3's and CoQ10 for brain health and its presence in plant-based foods.

Indeed, while some plant-based foods contain CoQ10, it may not always provide the optimal amount required for maximum health benefits. Considering a CoQ10 supplement could be a wise decision to ensure you meet your nutritional/therapeutic needs.

We encourage you to conduct further research on the topic and consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian who can provide personalized guidance based on your specific needs and circumstances.

If you have any more questions or require additional information, feel free to reach out. In the mean time, you can find tasty vegan recipes from our recipe section here, many of which contain whole food ingredients, https://www.nationalnutrition.ca/articles/healthy-recipes/

Have a healthy day

Wow! I am a PhD student and really, really value brain health: this is why I supplement with long-chain omega 3 fatty acids regularly (DHA and EPA); as a vegan, I simply will not be getting these from my diet. I've always known that plant-based foods are sources of CoQ10 and that CoQ10 supports brain health but I didn't realize how diet typically doesn't come close to supplying the optimal amount of CoQ10 for health benefits. I'm going to be doing some more research and considering a supplement; thank you for bringing this information to light for me!!!
