Hello Kaveh,
Awesome! Thank you for sharing your experience with Astaxanthin. This nutrient and lutein are great co-supplements, be sure to learn about lutein in this article: https://www.nationalnutrition.ca/articles/supplements/lutein-zeaxanthin/

I take Astaxanthin as part of my Salmon oil supplement. It's mixed in there. I'm not sure if I need a separate supplement or if it's enough to just take it with Wild Alaskan Salmon oil. It's with EHA, DHA as well. I am glad it helps the eye, I need more of that. I take Salmon Oil 3x per week. Hopefully, that's enough to get enough Astaxanthin. I sometimes get this word mixed up with the other one that often pairs with Lutein.

I hadn't read up on astaxanthin before this article...it's cool that salmon, trout, krill, shrimp and other ruby-red crustaceans get this carotenoid from microalgae: pretty wild to think about the plant foods & antioxidants that get into meat/fish (I think this even being vegan). I consume microalgae oil myself and wonder...does any of the astaxanthin make it into the oil or is it in some other part of the plant/lost during the processing of the microalgae oil? I also consume yeast so maybe I'm getting some there too :)

Hello,

We're glad you enjoyed learning about this potent antioxidant! Astaxanthin is also found in yeast and microalgae or you can take it in supplement form, which you can find here:

This antioxidant is amazing! It has so many great benefits to it and seems to treat a wide variety of conditions. My favorite being anti-aging, who knew! Also impressed by its neurological, cardiovascular and sugar control benefits as well! It appears that you can get this antioxidant from many seafood sources, are there any supplements i.e. fish oils, etc. that you can also get this antioxidant from if your not a big seafood eater? Would love to know!

As we age we have been learning that a lot of the predictable outcomes of aging are myths rather than facts. Lifestyle choices, diet, exercise and thought forms factor in greatly as to how we age. Polyunsaturated fatty acids contribute greatly to systemic inflammation and free radical damage affecting joints, eyes, heart, nerves, circulation etc. Astaxanthin does wonders at limiting and reversing much of this damage. Cataracts, macular degeneration joint pain are not death sentences with the right nutrition...astaxanthin! We have benefited hugely from regular astaxanthin supplements. We try to take ones with either coconut oil or olive oil as part of the ingredients.
