Beta glucans are great soluble fibers that makes me excited about whole grains such as oat, wheat, and barley: as a PhD student studying the human gut microbiome in health and disease, I find its role in gut mediated immune activity or GALT (gut associated lymphoid tissue) to be the most interesting-indeed such fibers can have many benefits for the gut microbiome :) This article makes me want to do more reading about the different types of beta glucans such as PGG and lentinan...maybe I will pick a favorite? Anyway, thank you for another great article :)
