Thank you for this great guide to caffiene, NN! I learned quite a bit of interesting facts, including:
1. Caffiene irritates the gastric in high doses which generally results in vomiting of excess amounts, explaining why caffeine intake is associated with an increased risk of developing Ulcers.
2. Coca Cola contains about 1/4th to 1/2th the caffiene in a brewed cup of coffee (yikes!-I knew that Coca Cola soft drinks were spiked with caffiene but did not realize that the amount was so high)
3. Originally, to create decaf caffiene was removed using toxic, environmentally dangerous solvents like benzene, chloroform, and dichloromethane. (thankfully, we now have better ways of doing this!!)

I have recently begun drinking a cup of coffee before a workout. This gives me energy and the will to do a good workout due to the stimulating effects of caffeine. I am generally a tea drinker which does not work as efficiently in terms of giving me that lift as coffee does. I do realize the many effects of caffeine both good and bad as outlined in this article, but I believe if you keep consuming it in moderation, you are good to go.
