      <description><![CDATA[Halibut and cod liver oil are generally low in mercury, so mercury toxicity is not really a risk here. However, as you mention, cod liver and halibut liver oil are both incredibly rich sources of vitamin A. While the vitamin A precursor found in plant-based foods such as carrots and sweet potatoes does not harbor a risk of toxicity, vitamin A from animal sources (retinol form) can be overdosed and cause toxicity if consumed in excess. So, this is something that one needs to be careful of. On that note, thank you for listing out the toxic vitamin A doses for adults, children, and pregnant women!]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[I grew up drinking cod liver oil and I can still remember how gross it tasted! I never understood why my mother always made me drink this stuff, but now after reading this article it all makes sense, thank you mom! I'm so thankful that there are capsule forms of taking this supplement now. Who knew that fish oil had so many great benefits! I can definitely appreciate the heart and mind health aspects.
