      <description><![CDATA[Eye-openning article. I didn't realize how amazing cysteine was until reading this article (and taking a look at Katerina's comment in the comments section). I vaguely recalled from organic chemistry that cysteine could help in formation of potent antioxidant glutathione but I did not know that cysteine also:
- Plays an important role in the formation of keratin and collagen
-Increases mucus fluidity and is thus good for the respiratory tract
-Can be used in treating rheumatoid arthtitis]]></description>

One book on amino acids labelled, cysteine as a respiratory doctors "secret weapon" for conditions such as asthma. I have been using cysteine supplements for several years, and I feel it is the one addition that has strengthened my lungs and allowed me to return to a place where I can take a lower dose of medication.
