As a PhD student who is studying the human gut microbiome in health and disease, I think that this is a really great little article. To comment on some specific points:
1. I am glad that many companies are progressing to including FOS prebiotic along with probiotic
2. I never knew that Marcel Roberfroid was the man who both discovered and named prebiotics in 1995: this is a great microbiology trivia question :)
3. I also didn't know that specific fructooligosaccharides (FOS), inulin and oligofructose are the only sources to fully meet the historical/original definition of prebiotics.
4. The three original criteria for prebiotics were great for me to review!!: I'll try to commit them to memory :)
