      <description><![CDATA[As a PhD researcher studying the human gut microbiome and health, I think that your section on probiotics vsus prebiotics as being well-written and easy to understand by the lay person. Re the benefits of inulin, I appreciate your note that with high doses, malabsorption can result. It would be great if you could go on a little bit further on detriments of high doses of inulin fiber as in both mice and man, GI discomfort and detrimental changes to the microbiome can result.]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[I tried taking an inulin based fiber supplement a few years ago. I know that it is supposed to be really helpful for gut health, but my experience was that it caused me so much gut pain! Even the tiniest little amount.

It is an ingredient in some foods, so I've had to get vigilant at reading ingredients.

So if you happen to have gut issues already, and are wanting to try inulin, I would recommend starting with a very tiny amount.]]></description>
