Hello Rachel,
Indeed, shark oil is packed with many beneficial nutrients and shark's aren't caught solely for the purpose of producing oil, which is reassuring. Thank you for sharing your favourite takeaways from this article, since you mentioned cod liver oil, you can learn more about it here: https://www.nationalnutrition.ca/articles/supplements/cod-halibut-liver-oil/

I was suspicious of how shark oil could be beneficial but my suspicions reduced immediately when I saw that the oil was sourced from the liver, given this is such a nutrient-rich site. Shark oil is not comparable to cod liver oil though!: insead of being super rich in vitamins, it is a great source of alkylglycerols, squalamine and squalene, as you mention. I didn't know that there was something to the tradition-I guess that the idea of ancient wisdom applies here! Also it is good to know the the oil is obtained from sharks caught off of Greenland, Norway, Sweden, and other coasts and is available as a by-product of the commercial fishing industry; eg endangered sharks are not allowed to be killed solely for their oil
