It is interesting that sulphur is thought to have an antiaging role and was very suprising to me, specifically because research on mice has shown restriction of the sulphur-containing amino acids (eg cysteine and methionine) to promote longevity. Perhaps this is an area where more research is needed to uncover what is going on in mice versus humans? Or perhaps sulphur has a different effect once it is integrated into proteins...? Anyway, thank you for explaining what is thought to be the mechanism for a potential benefit to sulphur in the context of aging, eg 1) that it detoxifies environmental pollutants and other substances which can contribute to aging and 2) it also is needed for the synthesis of collagen, which makes the skin appear vital and young. I am going to be doing more reading on this topic because just like every other woman out there, I want to stay looking young. Thank you for teaching me something new about sulphur!
