Ingredients:
1 cup frozen edamame, rinsed under hot water | 1 teaspoon white miso | ⅛ teaspoon sea salt |
½ cup loosely packed fresh cilantro | 1 garlic clove | pinch red pepper flakes |
1 tablespoon rice vinegar | ⅛ teaspoon fresh ginger root |
Directions
- Are you ready for the simplest directions ever? Mix all ingredients into your food processor/blender and blend until smooth. This shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to complete – it’s that simple! If you want to get a little more technical with it, use a spatula to scrap down the sides a few times and blend a bit more so there are zero clumps.
- Decide how you want to use the pâté and enjoy!
Make It This Way
If you don't like cilantro then try this recipe with fresh basil instead. You could even try a 1:1 mixture of fresh basil and parsley. To make this recipe soy-free, substitute the edamame with 1 cup of steamed green peas and either remove the miso or substitute it with 1 teaspoon of tahini.
Try This
This recipe tastes great served with fresh, cut up, raw veggies. You can also try it as a spread in wraps, sandwiches and in homemade California rolls. Use it to top salads, crackers, pizza, stir fries and pastas.
This is such a great idea of taking a classic and making it vegan with extra vegetables and greens! Not only is the colour nice and vibrant but this looks delicious and I love how it only takes ten minutes to make. This recipe also has such simple directions that it should be easy to make. I also love how this recipe only uses minimal dishes for an easy cleanup! Such a time saver on dishes. Looks great, thank for sharing!

Have a healthy day!
this looks really delicious and such a creative idea to use edamame beans as well instead of buying it store bought. I would not have even known where to begin making pate if it was not for this recipe so its really cool to have one and have the option of making it homemade instead of buying it since you will know what is in it this way. Would be great with one of the cracker recipes on this site too.
Hello,
This is a great vegan alternative for a go-to appetizer. With added nutrients, this recipe is a favourite. Enjoy!
I think that edamame are highly underrated and make for some amazing powerhouse boosts to dip recipes, for eample in edamame hummus, edamame pesto, edamame guacamole and this latest edamame recipe that you have provided here is so cool! I imagine that it would pair delightfully with some fresh baked sourdough or rye bread. Do you have any particular pairing suggestions that you find to be delicious? Thank you for acknowledging the might of the amazing edamame bean :)
Hello Rachel,
We are glad you're excited about this recipe. Edamame is an underrated food item that you don't often see in recipes. We think these cheese crackers would pair well with this paté: https://www.nationalnutrition.ca/articles/healthy-recipes/gluten-free-goat-cheese-crackers/ and if you'd like to make them vegan you can opt for a vegan cheese substitute.
