Ingredients:
1 medium orange, peeled and sliced | 1 tablespoon sugar | splash alcohol-free vanilla extract |
½ cup goat milk yogurt | 1 tablespoon freshly ground flax seed | pinch ground cloves |
½ cup canned pumpkin puree | 1 small knob ginger | |
½ cup unsweetened orange juice | ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon |
Directions
- Take your ginger and cut it up into small pieces as best you can. If you don’t want as harsh of a ginger taste, cut the skin off the outside and discard.
- Using a blender of your choice, place all remaining ingredients into it and start to pulse until smooth – or drinkable consistency.
- Drink and enjoy!
Make It This Way
If you’d like, make this recipe refined sugar-free by substituting the sugar for honey, maple syrup or agave syrup. Try adding some extra nutrients to your drink by adding pecans – either blend them into the smoothie or sprinkle them on top.
Try This
Because this recipe calls for yogurt, it adds a bit of a creamy texture to it, making it the perfect sorbet/ice cream autumn-inspired dessert. Make a batch (or double it, depending on how many people you plan to serve) and pour contents into a container and freeze overnight. When ready to serve, scoop it into a dish with an ice cream scoop and sprinkle it with pecans or pumpkin seeds! Serve and enjoy a healthy treat.
What a great idea for a fun fall breakfast or snack! Pumpkin flavours are so in right now but pumpkin also has great health benefits so this recipe is amazing! The creamsicle creamy flavour that comes with the smoothie is amazing you might not even remember that you are drinking something that is healthy for you! Thank you for the recipe and for listing all the health benefits, I love that it shows it for each ingredient. Looks like a tasty idea!
As we enter the colder months this recipe for a healthy orange pumpkin creamsicle smoothie is a great way to get your pumpkin fix in a healthy way and in a much cheaper alternative to buying all the pumpkin flavoured items. This is also a nice way to get in the actual nutrients of pumpkins instead of just the flavouring of it, it is easy to make in advance or the night before as well.
Hello,
You are right! Pumpking season is here and this smoothie packs a healthful punch! Pure pumpkin offers so many health benefits and is the flavour of the fall season. Plus with the orange flavour addition, it still slightly feels reminiscent of Summer.
Enjoy!
Okay so I love all things pumpkin spice, and this yummy Orange Pumpkin Creamsicle Smoothis hits the spot. I'm not big on the goat milk yogurt, so I swapped it out for coconut yogurt instead and it is SO GOOD! This is a good recipe for getting your pumpkin spice everything fix without all the bad bits. It was really good with maple syrup to add sweetness, and I'll be trying it with honey next. Pumpkin is so good for you, happy to of found this treat for Fall!
Hello Nicole,
We're glad you found this recipe. Pumpkin spice is all the rage, but most come with a heavy dose of sugar, using whole food ingredients and natural sweeteners like maple syrup or honey, give this treat a nutritional boost. You could also add a vanilla or unflavoured protein powder to have this after a workout or as a heartier snack.
Have a healthy day!
This is the first time I’ve ever seen a smoothie, where one of the ingredients is sugar. ?? I’ve never made a smoothie with any type of sweetener in it … the fruit is sweet enough. ?
Hello, TRS,
Thank you for your comment. Indeed, generally, the fruit is sweet enough, but in this smoothie, the only fruit is oranges and unsweetened orange juice. Paired with the pumpkin puree, there isn't much natural sweetness; therefore, a bit of sugar or natural sugar alternative would make this smoothie more satiable to most people. You can always forgo the sugar if you prefer as well, of course. We hope you're enjoying the other recipes we have and happy cooking!
Have a healthy day.

Hello,
Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, we can't include the macros for this recipe because they will vary depending on the brand of the ingredients each person uses. Because it calls for orange juice and sugar, the nutritional information will vary depending on your product choice. We would suggest looking up your favourite brands for the ingredients and seeing what the nutritional content would be for that specific one in order to get accurate information. We hope that helps.
