Spearmint Essential Oil
Updated Mar. 07th, 2022
Spearmint has a less intense scent compared to peppermint...
Traditionally used to soothe and heal sore gums and whiten teeth, Spearmint is a valued aromatic known for its minty-fresh, re-energizing scent. It was valued by the ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman physicians who used it to help digestive complaints and to revitalize the body. Often found in mints and gum, it is helpful for digestion and offers a refreshing clean taste. It is very popular in the culinary world and is added to many dishes and beverages or used as a garnish.
Uses
Today, Spearmint is more commonly found in mints and gum. It is used in aromatherapy for headaches, skin problems and respiratory health. Spearmint oil is lovely when used in a diffuser, offering an invigorating uplifting aroma to any room. It can be also be used as a soothing rub or massage for sore aching muscles or joints.
Such a delightful smell! I think that spearmint can also be used to repel rodents, which is amazing because as you mention, in humans (not mice or rats I assume, haha!) the spearmint oil scent creates a fresh, cool, sweet, mintly, uplifting and refreshing mood that can even potentially soothe digestive complaints mental stresses, and headaches. I bet it would sure be nice to get a massage with spearmint oil!! My younger Brother gets massages for his Ehlers Danlos and I will recommend it to him: thanks!
Hello Rachel,
Indeed, spearmint oil has a lovely scent and exceptional health benefits. It's a great oil to add to your morning body wash or to sprinkle in your shower drain to not only clean it, but create a spa like shower experience.
