      <description><![CDATA[Great article and the ccompanying video is also an excellent resource: I agree that sodium has gotten an unfortunate bad rap-while processed salt, like most processed foods is generally not health promoting, sodium certainly has ts place in biological function! As you explain, sodium is required, along with potassium and chloride, to maintain pH balance in the body and electrolyte loss, including the loss of sodium, leads to sunstroke and heat exhaustion. Further, sodium ions are needed to transfer electrochemical impulses along nerves and in muscles, making sodium important for muscles-including the heart!!]]></description>
