Swedish Bitters
This old European tonic is claimed to have helped a great variety of health problems. Even today, it is used with great success by many people. This recipe of ingredients was found among the writings of the well-known Swedish physician, Dr. Samst. He died in his 104th year in a riding accident. His parents and grandparents all reached a patriarchal age.
Swedish Bitters is actually a unique formula of eleven herbs and substances, combined using the principle of synergy. The final elixir has a far greater effect than does the taking of each substance separately. In fact, the art of plant-based medicines lie in combining substances that are mutually beneficial and enhance one another. In the Swedish Bitters formula, the composition of active ingredients has changed and matured over a period covering a couple of hundred years.
Swedish drops could be used externally as well as applied as a compress on the abdomen.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera Gel is for its ability to heal skin and mucus membranes. Externally it speeds the healing and decreases the discomfort of burns (including radiation burns from cancer therapy), cuts, insect stings, bruises, acne, poison ivy, skin ulcers (including diabetic ulcers) and eczema.
This is because aloe vera gel protects the damaged tissue from infection and has anti-inflammatory properties. Internally its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties act to heal the inner lining of the digestive tract, making it useful in the treatment of ulcers, hemorrhoids and colitis. It is also a laxative that can be used for constipation and as a colon cleanser.
Senna
Senna is native to northern Africa, parts of the Middle East and southern India. Its name has Arabic origins and first record of senna and its medicinal use comes from the writings of two Arabic physicians.
Traditional Chinese medicine recommends Senna as a treatment for Atherosclerosis, constipation, as well as "clearing heat" in the liver and "brightening the eyes". In Indian Ayurvedic medicine it is known as a remedy for anemia, jaundice and bronchitis. Other indications include dysentry, ringworm, fever, hemorrhoids, wounds and dermatitis.
