What Is Avocado Oil & What Is It Good For?

Avocado oil is extracted from the pulp of the avocado fruit (Persea Americana). It is used as an edible oil – raw and for cooking and is noted for its exceptionally high smoke point (250 °C (482 °F) and enviable nutrient content. Indeed, from a nutritional standpoint, this oil is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins A, D, and E, chlorophyll, carotenoids, and numerous powerful antioxidants. In addition, almost 70% of the oil consists of oleic acid - a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid. Ideally, select an oil that is certified Organic and Non-GMO. However you must note that avocado oil intended for aromatherapy use is not made to be ingested as it's not a food-grade oil. It’s also worth noting that it is possible to be allergic to this oil. If you have a known allergy (or even sensitivity) to avocadoes, you should abstain from using avocado oil internally or topically.
