Nature's Harmony Lice Stop Kit's unique, natural, non-toxic special formulation speeds up healing while reducing itching and soreness caused by head lice bites. Lice Stop uses a 60 mL (2 oz) liquid Tea Tree Oil Conditioning Solution in conjunction with a unique metal pin lice and nit comb to help rid the hair of lice and their eggs. The package also contains a scalp capto protect eyes and to hold solution on hair.
Over-the-counter head lice shampoos contain chemical pesticides. The two most common are pyrethrin and permethrin. Pesticides can cause serious side effects, such as asthma, respiratory failure, pneumonia, vomiting and muscle paralysis. A further concern is that lice are already developing resistance to these standard chemical treatments, as reported in research studies in Canada and the US.
Tea tree oil is widely recognized as an effective anti bacterial, antifungal and antiseptic agent. It has a complex chemical composition that makes it difficult for organisms (like head lice) to develop a resistance to it. The ingredients in Lice Stop help oxygenate skin cells and repair skin irritations. It also has mild anesthetic properties.
Tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) belongs to the same family of plants as the eucalyptus tree. It contains a substance known as terpinen-4-ol, which has been identified as the healing property of the plant. Research shows that this compound has a high solvent action that attacks mature lice and dislodges them from the scalp. The result is a high mortality rate of lice after the first application. Melaleuca, which means black and white (believed to be a reference to the appearance of the tree bark shortly after a bushfire), has been used
for centuries by Australian Aboriginals. The Aboriginals discovered that the essential oil from the leaves of the tea tree provided a natural cure for a wide variety of ailments.
Instructions:
1. Use on dry hair.
2. Shake Lice Stop Conditioning Solution well before using.
3. Lightly massage half the contents of the bottle (approximately 30-40 ml) into hair. Apply enough Lice Stop Hair Conditioning Solution to
saturate hair and scalp. Place enclosed protective scalp cap on head to cover hair.
4. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes.
5. Remove cap and rinse hair and scalp thoroughly with water and dry with towel.
6. To remove lice eggs (nits): Comb wet hair with regular comb to remove tangles. Do not reuse this comb prior to cleaning. Separate half-inch
sections of hair, and using the enclosed Lice Stop Nits Comb tilted towards the scalp, comb hair from scalp to ends. Repeat several times on
this section of hair, and then repeat on all sections of hair until entire head has been combed.
7. Repeat treatment 7 to 10 days later, following steps 1 through 6.
Tea Tree
It may not be the first thing you think of, but it's an essential addition to any first aid bag or suitcase. Tea tree oil is one of the strongest and most effective natural antiseptics; killing bacteria, viruses, and fungi upon contact.
Australian Aboriginals have been using Malaleuca alternifolia, aka Tea tree, for centuries. They used to brew the leaves and apply the pulp on a variety of ailments and to repel insects. When samples of Tea Tree were brought to England for study, its anti-fungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects were confirmed. It is now well-known and commonly used to treat acne, cuts, wounds, sore throat, ringworm, athlete's foot, vaginal infections, hemorrhoids, insect bites and dandruff.
It is important to note that Tea Tree oil is toxic when ingested. It can cause vomiting, diarrhea, severe rash, confusion and even coma. Be cautious or refrain from using Tea Tree topically on pets, as they may ingest the tea tree while grooming. A small number of patients also experience contact dermatitis when using Tea Tree oil topically. Using a diluted concentration may help to decrease the incidence of any skin reaction.
Tea Tree can be applied directly to an acne lesion, or directly to lesions of Athletes foot or Ringworm. Be aware some drying will occur. Add 2 or 3 drops to shampoo before washing hair for dandruff treatment. For athlete's foot bath, soak feet 3 times a day, for 15 minutes each in a small tub of water mixed with 20-25 drops of Tea Tree oil. For a vaginal douche to treat a yeast infection or vaginitis, mix 1 tsp for every 2 cups of water. Douche daily for 4-6 weeks. This same mixture can also be applied to and used to treat external hemorrhoids.
