EDTA Supplements
Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid (EDTA) may sound like something you want to avoid, it's actually a man-made synthetic amino acid that is used as a chelation agent and that has some very impressive clinical applications.
To understand what EDTA can do, it is important to understand what chelation means. The word chelate comes from the Greek meaning to bind to. EDTA has been described as a claw-like substance that can latch on and bind to other molecules. It also acts as a potent antioxidant, preventing free radicals from injuring blood vessel walls. Chelation therapy then, is a process that uses EDTA by either injecting intravenously, or introduced rectally via a suppository to remove calcifications, heavy metals and other toxins from the circulatory system and internal organs.
EDTA chelation therapy is not new; in fact, it has been used in conventional medicine for decades to treat heavy metal poisoning. However, its use in the treatment of heart disease, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease and cognitive concerns is more recent. While not an immediate fix (between 5 to 30 sessions are typically required), chelation therapy has; however, shown great promise. Unsurprisingly, EDTA chelation therapy is gaining a lot of popularity across the world as an effective, non-invasive approach to health management. Please note, EDTA is a recommendation medicine and can only be administered by a qualified practitioner; therefore you must speak to your health care provider to see if it’s right for you.
Benefits of EDTA
- Detoxifies the Body of Heavy Metals & Other Toxins
- Improves Heart Health
Who Needs It?
Chelation therapy is most often used to dissolve and eliminate calcium deposited on the walls of blood vessels and improve heart health, regulate cholesterol & reduce triglycerides, diminish the formation of blood clots, remove accumulated toxins and heavy metals inside the body and enhance blood circulation to the brain.
EDTA/Chelation Therapy Potencies, Forms & Formats
Supplement Potencies
The appropriate dose of EDTA administered via IV or suppository will be decided by the treating physician based on the individual patient and health status.
Supplement Forms
EDTA is available in two different forms, as a sodium salt of calcium diethylenetriaminepentaacetate, or as a sodium salt of zinc diethylenetriaminepentaacetate; both for IV use.
Supplement Formats
EDTA is a recommendation medication that comes in a solution given by injection into the vein (intravenously) or the muscle (intramuscularly). It also comes in suppository form. EDTA is also available in capsule form but is poorly absorbed by the digestive tract.
Choosing the Right EDTA for You
Speak to your health care practitioner about the potential benefits of EDTA chelation therapy if you are concerned about possible heavy metal accumulation from mercury or amalgam fillings, vaccinations, farmed fish, or are dealing with another health condition.
