Lime Oil Benefits
Lime oil makes people happy! Indeed, thanks to its fresh, cheerful, and refreshing aroma, lime oil is one of the perkiest essential oils. It is frequently recommended as a mood enhancer to perk up your spirit and bolster energy and vitality.
For those who have yet to try this essential oil, it is a sweet and aromatic essence extracted from lime peel and/or rind. Of course, limes come from the lime tree, of which several species exist. These include the key lime (Citrus Aurantiifolia) and the Persian/Tahitian lime (Citrus Latifolia Tanaka) trees. Although their extraction methods and compositions may vary slightly, all lime oils offer comparable health benefits. Their fragrances are also very similar and may best be described as bright, fresh, fruity, citrusy, sweet, and slightly tart.
In aromatherapy, this oil is extensively used in diffusers, blended into household cleaning and disinfecting products, added to various DIY skin and hair care recipes, and used as a fragrance. In perfumery, lime oil is lovely and intoxicating, which is why it is often used by itself. Still, it can also be paired with many other fragrances, including other citrus oils, clary sage, coriander, eucalyptus, jasmine, lavender, neroli, rosemary, and sandalwood.

Therapeutic Properties of Lime Essential Oil
Lime essential oil is reputed to be refreshing, cleansing, and purifying. It is excellent for diffusion during the cold and flu season to help protect against infections and soothe associated symptoms. In skin care, this oil helps to tighten and tone the skin and works as an astringent to control oil production. Similarly, lime oil can help regulate oil production in the scalp and reduce dandruff while leaving hair silky and shiny. Moreover, this oil is perfect for cleaning and disinfecting the home because of its refreshing aroma. To eliminate odours and create a fresh and uplifting environment that can effectively lift spirits, simply add a few drops to a spray bottle filled with water, shake, and spray into the air onto carpets, curtains, and linens.
Using Essential Oils
While generally well tolerated, lime oil can occasionally cause hypersensitivity. To minimize the risk of experiencing allergic reactions or hypersensitivity, it is recommended to do a skin patch test before using essential oils topically. In addition, like other citrus oils, lime essential oil can cause photosensitivity when applied topically; as such, it's best to avoid sun exposure for up to 12 hours. Also note, essential oils must be diluted in a carrier oil before applying to the skin. It's important to note that some essential oils are toxic to pets whether diffused in the home or if they ingest them from licking your skin.
