Have you ever considered taking an omega oil for your health? Today, maintaining optimal health is more important than ever. Omega fatty acids are crucial in supporting various bodily functions, including brain health.
Omega 3, 6, and omega 9 are essential fatty acids that can't be made by your body. Therefore, incorporating these healthy fats into your diet through supplements is necessary for good health. These omegas support cardiovascular health, reduce inflammation, improve cognitive function, enhance skin health and appearance and promote overall well-being.
While these essential oils can be found individually, one popular supplement that combines all three omegas is Udo's Oil. Keep reading to learn more as we explore the benefits of each omega as well as their combined effects when taken together, plus information on the less-known omega-7 oil. Plus, learn practical tips on how to incorporate these natural supplements into your daily routine for optimal health and vitality.
Understanding The Different Omega's
Omega 3 Oil
Omega 3 Oil Benefits
Omega-3 oil is the most popular essential fatty acid that offers a range of health benefits. It supports brain health, reduces inflammation, enhances mood and promotes heart health. Because your body can't produce it, omega-3 fatty acid supplements and foods are essential for your body. By incorporating a quality omega-3 supplement into your diet, you can improve your overall well-being and cognitive health.
Omega 3 Oil Supplement Formats
Omega 3 oil supplements come in various formats, including capsules, liquid oils, and gummies. Softgels and liquid forms are often a favourite because the omega is suspended or mixed in an oil, making them more bioavailable.
Typical Omega 3 Oil Dosing
While each supplement is formulated differently and requires different dosage instructions, most adults could benefit from taking 200-500mg/day.
Omega 6 Oil
Omega 6 Health Benefits
Omega 6 oil supplements benefit your health in many ways, including supporting cognitive functioning, normal growth and development as well as nurturing the skin and hair growth and healthy bone maintenance.
Omega 6 Supplement Formats
Omega 6 oil supplements come in various formats, catering to different preferences and needs. Whether it's capsules, softgels, or liquid form, these natural health supplements are easy and convenient to take and incorporate into your daily routine.
Omega 6 Oil Dosing
Omega 6 can be found in eggs, sunflower oil, cashews and corn as well as supplements. When it comes to dosing, it is important to strike a balance between omega 3, omega 6, and omega 9 supplements; however, if you're taking omega 6 on its own, adults should aim to get 4 grams of omega 6 to every 1 gram of omega 3 to keep a healthy balance.
Omega 9 Oil
Health Benefits of Omega 9
While omega 3 and omega 6 are more well-known, omega 9 is equally necessary for maintaining good health. Omega 9 is known for reducing "bad cholesterol" (LDL) in the blood and increasing "good cholesterol" (HDL). It's especially known for supporting cardiovascular health and preventing heart disease.
Omega 9 Supplement Formats
Whether you prefer capsules, liquid form, or softgels, there's an omega 9 supplement format that suits you best. However, liquids and softgels offer better absorption because the omega fat is housed in a fatty oil, making it more bioavailable because it's paired with a fat source.
Typical Dosing For Omega 9
Just like the other omega, omega 9 should be taken in an appropriate balance to omega 3 and 6. But if you're taking it on its own, adults are recommended to have a daily dose of 25g for women and 35g for men.
Omega 7 Oil
Health Benefits of Omega 7
Omega 7 oil is the least talked about of the omega oils. It's responsible for helping hydrate the body by lubricating the mucous membranes, and eyes and supporting vaginal dryness in postmenopausal women. Omega 7 also provides hydration to the skin and helps prevent or decrease acne. Aside from hydration, it's also good for the digestive tract and heart health.
Omega 7 Supplement Formats
The best-known omega-7 supplements are Sea Buckthorn supplements by Sibu. They are available in softgels, liquids, oils and topical creams.
Dosing For Omega 7
While there isn't a recommended daily dose for omega 7, studies are showing less than 200mg/day or following labelling directions on the supplement of your choice is best.
Getting Omega's 3, 6 and 9 In Proper Ratios
Key Health Benefits of Udo's Oil
Since omega 3, 6 and 9 should be taken in specific ratios, taking a blend of the three is easy and convenient to ensure you're maintaining this delicate balance. This way you are getting the health benefits of omega's from cognitive protection to skin health.
Udo's 3-6-9 Supplement Formats
Udo's 369 supplements are the most popular and well-known blend, known as Udo's 369 oil. This supplement is a powerful blend of omega 3, omega 6, and omega 9 fatty acids. It's available in capsules and oil for convenient dosing.
Udo's Oil Dosing
When taking Udo's oil, the recommended dose is 2 tbsp of the oil or 1-2 capsules three times daily.
Final Thoughts & Insights On Omega Oil 3-6 & 9
In conclusion, incorporating omega oils into your daily routine can have numerous benefits for your overall health. Omega 3, omega 6, and omega 9 supplements are natural sources of essential fatty acids that support brain health and promote overall well-being. Adding these natural supplements to your diet is a simple yet effective way to enhance your overall health and vitality.

I get my omegas either from Wild Alaska Salmon Oil or from anchovies and sardines. I like the salmon because it doesn't just come from the ocean, where the microplastics are greatest. However, the anchovies and sardines offer the higher DHA per capsule, which is the fatty acid most useful for the brain. For Brain health DHA is the way to go, so I go for the max DHA I can get, and that is from anchovies and sardines. The other omegas are there as well, but it is the DHA in particular that is valuable to the brain. Don't overlook the brainy acid, DHA.
Hello Kaveh,
Salmon oil is an excellent source of omega's as are the others you mentioned. Getting adequate omega's is important for overall health and well being. Learn more here: https://www.nationalnutrition.ca/articles/supplements/supplement-articles-dha-docosahexanoic-acid/
