7-keto-DHEA (commonly called "7-keto") is one form of 7-oxo-DHEA, and a by-product of the hormone dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). DHEA is the most abundant circulating steroid hormone in humans. The adrenal glands, ovaries, and testes produce DHEA. DHEA serves as a precursor to estrogen and testosterone. Unlike DHEA, 7-keto-DHEA does not convert into estrogen or testosterone. It may increase metabilism and support weight loss without altering hormone levels. 7-keto-DHEA may also support thyroid function, memory, healthy aging, and muscle growth.
Top 7-Keto Dhea Health Benefits
1. Weight Loss
A seven-day study found that 7-keto increased resting metabolic rate by 4% in men and women. Some research has found that this may be due to an association of 7-keto with thyroid hormone in the body. 7-keto may temporarily increase thryoid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and thyroid hormone production. Studies also suggest it stimulates mitochondria, increasing cellular energy production. This burns more calories and creates more heat in the body in a process called "thermogenesis". Thus supplementation with 7-keto can help to boost the thyroid and increase metabolism, both of which will aid weight loss.
2. PMS
Laboratory studies show 7-keto increases blood levels of 7-hydroxy-DHEA. Levels of 7-hydroxy-DHEA naturally decline during the second half of the menstrual cycle. Researchers believe this decline may contribute to PMS-related mood changes. Thus, since 7-keto helps to prevent this dip in 7-hydroxy-DHEA levels, supplementation with 7-keto may help to reduce the mood symptoms of PMS. 7-keto may reduce sex hormone levels in the body. It may benefit estrogen-dominant conditions, including fibroids and fibrocystic breasts.
3. Cholesterol Benefits
One study found that 7-keto lowered steroid hormone levels and increased HDL ("good") cholesterol in 10 older men. Their risk for atherosclerosis fell after short-term treatment. The long-term effects have not yet been studied.
4. Raynaud's Disease
Raynaud's disease is a condition in which the body excessively constricts blood vessels in the extremities on exposure to cold. This results in extreme pain, and pale blotchy skin on the fingers and toes. 7-keto may help prevent Raynaud's attacks by increasing basal metabolic rate and reducing vasospasms. It also promotes heat generation by the mitochondria of the cells, helping to maintain a higher body temperature during cold exposure.
How Can I Take 7-Keto-DHEA Supplements?
7-keto is available in powdered capsules and weight management formulas. Studies found 200mg daily safefor up to four weeks. Researchers have not established its long-term safety.

Well the article sounds good but you don't even carry this product so what is the point of the article? Everything I can find on the internet says that this is banned in Canada.
Hello,
You are right, unfortunately. 7-Keto-DHA remains unavailable in Canada. A few years ago, we found that we were getting a lot of questions about it, so we published the article to help keep our customers informed.

I agree with other commenters that this was an interesting article. I knew that 7-keto-DHEA was a form of DHEA but I did not know that it is a form of this hormone that does not convert to testosterone or estrogen within the body...I will have to take a look chemically into why this is. So, it is resistant to convertion to testosterone and estrogen by both human host and gut microbial enzymes, I assume? Anyway, I may actually have Raynaud's (not formally diagnosed but it is very visably apparent and multiple doctors have mentioned)...I did not know that there were supplements that could treat it so I will look into it further; thank you, NN!
