Seasoned Brussels Sprouts
We know as a kid you probably turned up your nose up at these oddly shaped, mini cabbage-like veggies, but those times are over. Serve these delicious, overall health-boosting vegetables at your next dinner party and get ready to hear some praise. Get them fresh from the produce section at your grocery store for best results. By adding just a few ingredients like thyme and garlic, you’ll be amazed at just how quickly you’ll fall in love with roasted Brussels sprouts the more you eat them!
Serves 4-6 Gluten Free Dairy Free Corn Free Egg Free Sugar Free
Ingredients:
4 cups fresh brussels sprouts, washed and trimmed3-4 thyme sprigs, fresh 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1 head garlic, skin removed from each clove and quartered1 1/2 tablespoons extra-virgin coconut oil, meltedfreshly ground black pepper
1 TBSP Nutritional Yeast
DIRECTIONS
- Set your oven to 400F
- For best results, cut off the ends of your Brussels sprouts and discard. Slice or keep whole, and place in a large bowl.
- Slice up your garlic; add to bowl.
- Add in remaining oil, salt and pepper and stir to coat.
- Add contents onto a lined baking sheet, spreading evenly.
- Place fresh thyme sprigs on top of the sheet sporadically.
- Bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes, flipping or rotating the sprouts every 5-10 minutes until you notice the edges are getting browned.
- Sprinkle with Nutritional Yeast before serving
- Sever hot!
Make It This Way
If you prefer to have more of a crispy Brussels sprout side dish, try cutting them length ways before roasting. This will avoid some of the mushiness you could get in the center when they’re cooked whole.
If you don’t have coconut oil, don’t worry. Brussels sprouts taste delicious tossed in avocado, grapeseed or olive oil!
Try This
This makes a great side dish to serve with a roast, or a meat protein. It’s not unheard of to also enjoy Brussels sprouts for lunch – try shaving some fresh Parmesan on top for an extra tasty dish.
