Ubiquinol CoQ10 Liquid
Ubiquinol is the active form of Coenzyme Q10 (or CoQ10) which is a fat-soluble compound that plays a central role in Mitochondrial Oxidative Phosphorylation, the metabolic pathway in which cells use enzymes to oxidize nutrients to produce cellular energy (or ATP). While the body can make its own CoQ10, our natural production naturally slows as of age 20, which is where supplementation comes in.
Coenzyme Q10 can be purchased either as ubiquinone, which the body must convert to ubiquinol to use, or ubiquinol, which is the active form that the body can use right away. In healthy, younger individuals, this conversion is done seamlessly, while older adults tend to have more difficulty with the process, in which case they should opt for the ubiquinol form of supplement.
As a dietary supplement, CoQ10/Ubiquinol is a powerful antioxidant that helps prevent free radical damage and may protect against the development of most age-related health conditions including heart disease, physical and mental fatigue, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and poor exercise performance/limited ability to exercise.
Benefits of Ubiquinol CoQ10 Liquid
One of the biggest advantages of taking a liquid form of ubiquinol is that CoQ10 in liquid form is more readily absorbable than traditional pill forms such as capsules and tablets. A liquid ubiquinol supplement is also ideal for anyone with swallowing difficulties such as the elderly, those with dentures or partials, and those who have a hard time with the smell, taste, and texture of tablets and capsules. Last but by no means least, a liquid form of ubiquinol allows you to easily adapt the dosing according to your health care provider’s recommendations.
Ubiquinol CoQ10 Liquid – Potency & Formats
Liquid ubiquinol supplements are typically offered in potencies between 30mg to 200 mg and the recommended daily dose is usually in the 90–200 mg range, though high doses may be required depending on health status and the condition/symptoms to be addressed. Your health care provider can provide you with case-specific recommendations on dosing.
Final Thoughts
Liquid supplements have been demonstrated to offer an absorption rate of up to 98 % which is considerably higher than most pill forms, so may give you more bang for your buck.
It's also worth noting that CoQ10 is a fat-soluble nutrient and thus, to optimize absorption, it should always be taken with a fat-containing meal, snack, or beverage. However, if the liquid ubiquinol you select is already in a fat base (such as Medium Chain Triglycerides), you do not need to take your supplement with any additional fat.
