Flora’s Rich Brand History
Flora was born in 1965 in Burnaby BC, when Thomas Greither, the founder of Flora, started a natural health food store in Vermont, which ignited his dream to make the finest health products on the market.
Back when Flora began, natural health products weren’t very prevalent in Canada. Therefore, in their early stages, Flora began as a distributing centre for European herbal remedies. As interest for supplements grew in Canada, so did Flora’s formulations, which is when they made natural bulk laxatives and herbal therapeutic teas.
Twenty-one years later, Flora formulated their first cold-pressed, unrefined oils. At this time, this made them a pioneer for making oils that didn’t let in light or oxygen, to keep the active enzymes of the fatty acids active.
In 1988, they expanded to the US with a manufacturing facility and farm to grow their own organic herbs, and by 1992, their most popular products, Flor Essence and Udo’s Choice, were born.
Fast forward to today, Flora is an award-winning supplement brand that continues to innovate in both product development and environmentally friendly manufacturing practices.
Quality Assurance & Control Measures
Flora Supplements keeps every stage of its production in-house. From lab testing raw materials to herbal extraction, encapsulation, bottling and packaging, Flora takes quality control seriously and oversees every step.
When sourcing their raw materials they have strict guidelines. They only purchase or grow the highest grade of raw materials and they have a stringent screening and testing procedure for each kind of ingredient, agricultural raw materials and nonagricultural raw materials.
Their quality control team inspects each batch of herbs and conducts various tests to make sure all ingredients and finished products pass. Their tests identify physical identification, microbial, heavy metal and pesticide residue, and active ingredient levels.
Flora uses vegetarian-sourced, organic, non-GMO raw materials and each product is made with minimal or no excipients.
Their manufacturing facilities are highly rated and they have the certifications to prove it. Flora is ProgramThird-party certified by NPA and they follow Good Manufacturing Practices. They are certified as an organic producer and processor by Quality Assurance International and are a member of the US Tru-Label.
