Clove was traditionally used as a food preserver prior to the advent of refrigeration. It keeps food from going bad and reduces food borne illnesses because it has antiseptic and anti-parasitic properties. Clove oil can be used as a topical pain reliever and antiseptic, helpful for toothaches, mouth sores and teething complaints.
The potent anti-fungal, anti-parasitic and antibacterial properties of Clove make it a great addition to any parasite protocol. It soothes digestion, decreases gas and bloating and also stimulates peristalsis. Cloves is known to kill the eggs of parasites and inhibit growth.
Symptoms of a Parasite Infection
According to the World Health Organization, 3.5 billion people suffer from some type of parasitic infection.
Symptoms of a possible infection may include constipation, diarrhea, gas and bloating. Irritable bowel syndrome, skin conditions, allergies, sleeping problems, joint and muscle pains, nervousness, granulomas, anemia, teeth grinding, chronic fatigue, and other immune problems.
Parasitic infections in the gastro-intestinal tract are common. Eighty percent of North Americans harbour one or more parasites. It is so wide-spread because of international travel, immigration, contamination of the water and food supply, use of daycare centres, household pets, antibiotic use and chemical contamination. Giardia and pinworms are the two most common intestinal parasites.
Intestinal parasites cause illness by competing with the host for nutrients and secreting waste products that cause allergic and autoimmune reactions.
Parasitic infections in the digestive tract can be difficult to diagnose because the symptoms look similar to other abdominal illnesses. Common symptoms include appetite changes, abdominal pain and cramping, diarrhea and stool changes. Dehydration may occur due to the diarrhea. If the infection is long-term weight loss, malnourishment and chronic digestive problems manifest.
