The History of Natracare
Natracare is the world’s first organic cotton feminine hygiene brand. It was founded in 1989 by Susie Hewson, who saw a gap in the market for healthy alternatives to women’s care products. In the 1980s, feminine products were riddled with dioxins and plastic pollution; therefore, Susie developed an alternative that respects not only women’s bodies but also the planet.
In 1990, Natracare had its first wholesaler, Suma, and in 1991, it launched in the Canadian market. Today Natracare is available worldwide and they are still committed to improving the performance of their products and innovating new ways to care for women’s health. While they have grown over the years, their commitment to their core values has remained the same: to be kind to health, the planet and to people.
Beyond creating clean products, Natracare is passionate about the environment, which is why it works hard to ensure its daily operations are ethical and sustainable. It is also a member of 1% For The Planet, which partners with non-profits and charities that give back to the environment.
