The difference between the gut flora of a baby to children and adults is the fact that they don't have as many bacteria. In fact, when a baby is in the womb they don't have any bacteria at all. When the baby is born, first they get that first dose of probiotic through the birth canal during a vaginal birth. If a child is not vaginally birthed, then they're not going to get that first dose of probiotics. They're going to have to get it supplementally. The next stage is of course that they're going to get the probiotics though the mother's breast milk. If for some reason they're not able to breast feed, then, again, they're not able to get those good probiotics into their body. It's very important, that if a child has been born through caeserian or it is not able to be breast feed for whatever reason, that they get onto probiotics right from the word go
Which probiotic is safe for baby?
When a mom's looking for a probiotic for her baby they should try FloraBaby. It's a powdery probiotic that can be mixed easily with apple sauce or lukewarm liquids. I know that a lot of people warm up formulas, and this can still be added in as long as it's not too hot. It can be made into a paste and put on the mother's nipple as well if the baby is breast feeding. This is an easy way to get the probiotics into your infant's digestive tract right from the word go.
How does it work?
It works to repopulate the digestive track of an infant and it repopulates the good bacteria that's going to help with bowel movements. It's going to help with things like colic, help to build the immune system, and help with digestion too. It is really important to have this in your baby's diet every day.
Which babies should take it?
All babies benefit from taking it. It's something that they can take right from infancy.
What happens with a baby’s gut flora is unbalanced?
You might notice things like diarrhoea, constipation, and perhaps improper digestion of food . They've got things like colic going on, so taking a probiotic will help with these conditions and help your baby feel more comfortable.
What is the dosage?
Just one scoop each day is all your child needs.
What are some results?
The results and feedback have been great regarding how wonderful it's been to help with things like colic, or to help to stabilize the stools, and to just keep babies’ immune system strong. It's been used in a study at a hospital in Montreal on preemie babies and they had great results. It is something that an infant can take.
