WHAT IS A COENZYME B COMPLEX?
Did you know that coenzyme vitamins are the bioactive form of B vitamins? Indeed, coenzyme B vitamins are bio-identical to the forms of B vitamins that are naturally found in the body. This makes them far more bioavailable than the conventional synthetic forms of B vitamin supplements since the body does not need to convert them to be able to absorb and use them.
B vitamins are naturally water-soluble; therefore, not stored in the body in any significant amounts. Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, B12, pantothenic acid, and folic acid make up the eight essential B vitamins found in food and supplements. These vitamins are essential for the breakdown of carbohydrates into glucose for energy production, as well as for the breakdown of fats and proteins for healthy nervous system function. B vitamins also work as cofactors for a variety of different enzymes that regulate metabolism.
Enzymes, on the other hand, are proteins that help speed up metabolism and/or speed up chemical reactions in our bodies. In turn, a coenzyme vitamin is a substance that facilitates the action of an enzyme or is essential to this enzyme. Because, as mentioned, the body cannot directly use synthetic B vitamins, it must first convert them to their active coenzyme form by adding a phosphate group (typically from adenosine triphosphate, or ATP). In most healthy people, this natural process of converting synthetic vitamins into coenzyme vitamins is linear and goes smoothly and undetected. However, in certain individuals, this process may be impeded. Older individuals, may have difficulty with this bioconversion, as can those with nutritional deficiencies, or people dealing with chronic GI issues that result in malabsorption.
BENEFITS of COENZYME B COMPLEX
- Boosts Energy
- Helps maintain Healthy Nervous System Function
- Supports a Healthy Stress Response
WHO NEEDS A COENZYME B-COMPLEX?
A coenzyme B complex provides the most biologically active forms of B vitamins and is ideal to quickly reverse and prevent deficiencies, as well as to help enhance natural energy production and performance. A coenzyme B complex is also ideal to enhance the body’s natural handling of stress, as well as to rapidly rebalance brain neurotransmitters, to relieve cognitive and neurological impairment associated with mood disorders, alcohol-related brain disorders, and age-related brain diseases. Finally, a hi-quality, hi-potency coenzyme B complex is especially important in times of stress, malnutrition, or after antibiotic use.
COENZYME B-COMPLEX POTENCY, FORMS & FORMATS
Coenzyme B Complex Potency
Like the conventional B complex options, coenzyme B complexes come in a range of potencies, typically in the 25 to 100 mg dose range. Keep in mind that because coenzyme B vitamins are in their bioactive forms, you may need less to get the same health benefits.
Coenzyme B Complex Formats
B complexes in coenzyme form can be found in-store and online in tablets, capsules (gelatin, as well as vegan), caplets, and as drops.
GETTING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR COENZYME B-COMPLEX
Because B vitamins help boost natural energy production, B-complex vitamins should be taken early in the day, preferably with your first and/or second meal. It’s also best not to take your B complex with tea or coffee as the tannins and caffeine have been shown to interfere with the absorption of many vitamins, including many from the B family. A B complex should not be taken late in the day or before bedtime because it may interrupt sleep.
