Vitamin E 1000IU
Vitamin E supplements can come in a few different doses, with the most common being 100, 200, 400, 800, and Vitamin E 1000IU – the latter of which is considered a clinical dose. Lower doses of Vitamin E are primarily used to bolster antioxidant protection, as well as to counter vitamin E deficiency in those on calorie-restricted diets, as well as those with certain genetic disorders such as ataxia which causes severe vitamin E deficiency.
The most common symptoms of a vitamin E deficiency include; muscle weakness (damage to the central and peripheral nervous systems), coordination and walking difficulties, numbness and tingling, vision deterioration, and immune system problems.
Clinical doses of vitamin e , like 1000IU, may be recommended for the prevention and treatment of a variety of conditions. Because vitamin E has powerful antioxidant properties, it protects your cells against the effects of free radicals — highly reactive and unstable molecules that are produced in the body as a by-product of metabolism, or as a result of exposure to toxins in the environment, tobacco smoke, and even the sun’s rays. In turn, these free radicals are associated with human disease and DNA damage (loss of cell integrity and stability). Hence the importance of bolstering your body's antioxidant protection.
In addition to its potent antioxidant properties, vitamin E is also crucial to the maintenance of vision, reproduction and skin health.

Getting The Most Out of Your Vitamin E 1000IU
Because vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin, they are more often than not presented in an oil base, to enhance absorption. To further maximize absorption the supplement should be taken with a meal or snack that contains some fat (eggs, fatty fish, nuts, cheese, avocado, etc.).
Side effects are rare with vitamin E supplements, but higher doses do increase the risk. Excessive intake of vitamin E may cause muscle aches, diarrhea, vomiting, and abnormal bleeding. Vitamin E can also increase bleeding risk in those on anticoagulation or antiplatelet therapy. If you are taking these medications, speak to your health care provider before taking vitamin E.
