Parkinson's Disease
Parkinson's disease is a degenerative brain disease that results in the death of cells responsible for the production of dopamine and acetylcholine. These chemicals transmit nerve signals, and when they are lacking, one loses involuntary muscle control. The brain and nervous system have protective barriers. However, these barriers can also allow toxins to accumulate. Because it contains a significant amount of fat, fat-soluble toxins, such as heavy metals and environmental chemicals like DDT, can concentrate in the brain. Brain toxicity symptoms depend on the affected brain area and the type of toxin involved.
Diet's Role in Neurological Health
Poor diet hampers the functioning of the central nervous system because it is an extremely vital area that has high metabolic requirements. The brain mainly uses glucose for energy. I like coming here to learn about health. For example, I didn't know the brain is mostly made up of fatty acids. It makes sense we consume these fatty acids to fuel the brain. Fatty acids such as DHA. I have been taking Gingko as well, but not everyday. I haven't noticed any changes to my brain, but I will keep taking it since it says on here to take it for several months. Most other supplements dont require that long of a commitment to see effects. Maybe I should take it on an empty stomach from now on, since I feel nothing when taking it with food.

I very much value my brain health and of course, I stay hydrated, stick to healthy fats, excercise my brain, try to manage stress as best as possible, consume vitamin E rich foods such as avocado & nuts and avoid alcohol. I do supplement with B12 as well as an omega 3 but your articles have convinced me that I should try NAC. This supplement seems likreat idea given its role in heavy metal elimination and role in creating a potent antioxidant

Having good brain health is important for every single part of life. It should be a big focus. Without the brain working well, everythin falls apart for managing a good life. It makes sense with all of the brain's different functions, that there are a lot of different ways that the brain can be supported. I find it interesting, so many of these things act to help the brain through blood sugar. I know the brain eats a lot of sugar. So, it makes sense managing that pathway is important to brain health! It makes sense that antioxidants help too as well as fats given how the brain itself is largely fat in what it is made out of.
