Clary sage is a biennial, meaning it grows, flowers and dies in two years. It’s easy to cultivate, however and produces a large volume of herb material each year. Aura Cacia Clary Sage Essential Oil comes from a cooperative of farmers in southern France. Clary sage (Salvia sclarea) essential oil is known for its balancing, uplifting, euphoric capacities and gentle nature. It is used for a wide variety of applications, from body and massage oils to room diffusions. It’s uplifting but not overly invigorating, making it ideal for relaxing and resetting.
CLARY SAGE ESSENTIAL OIL
The sweet, earthy aroma of clary sage has been admired by many for centuries...
The herb derives its name from the Latin clarus, meaning, “clear,” and was referred to as “clear eyes” during the Middle Ages for its famous ability to clear tired or strained eyes and blurred vision. Traditionally known for its ability to restore health during a variety of aliments; from eye problems to infertility, clary sage was revered as a "cure all". Its potent properties were thought to restore nervous equilibrium and help with emotional and hormonal imbalances.
Uses
Today aroma therapists use this delightful oil to inspire creativity and to help soothe frazzled nerves. Added to an evening bath Clary Sage is an excellent relaxant, helping nervous exhaustion, headaches, migraines and more. Clary Sage also makes sensual massage oil and traditionally was known as an aphrodisiac. This essential oil is also used to help treat menstrual problems such as: amenorrhea and dysmenorrheal. It is also commonly used to treat respiratory conditions such as asthma, cough, or sore throat. Because of its ability to promote menstruation, this oil should be avoided in pregnancy. It can also have a significant relaxing effect that has been compared to narcotics, which is beneficial for the treatment of stress, but clary sage should be avoided when drinking or performing activities that require concentration like driving.
