History of Bio-Strath

Bio-Strath began over 60 years ago when founder Fred Pestalozzi was suffering from Meniere’s syndrome. He came across a German chemist's herbal yeast mixture which helped his condition and the health of his loved ones. Pestalozzi was astonished by its success, inspiring him to launch Bio Strath in 1961.

Bio-Strath originated and is still based in Zurich, Switzerland but has grown into a worldwide company and is now available in over 50 countries.

Its first product was Bio Strath Restorative and Convalescent Drops, and the following year, it exported its first deliveries to Canada and launched Anima-Strath, a restorative treatment for animals.

Throughout the years Bio Strath has accomplished many things and in the early 1990s, they completed their state-of-the-art automatic filling and packaging plant and sent their yeast into space on the Space Shuttle for the ETH basic research project on yeast. This produced a small batch of Strath Space Herbal Yeast.

In recent years, Bio-Strath launched its vegan and natural iron product, Strath Iron, and in 2024 the handover of Bio-Strath AG to the family business ebi-pharm with Stefan Binz was finalized. However, David Pestalozzi remains a co-owner, and member of the management team.

The Bio Strath brand is synonymous with quality. Their facilities comply with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) guidelines to produce the best quality products.

In order to create the best in natural health, they rely on natural ingredients, natural shelf life without preservatives, and proof of efficacy according to scientific criteria. All of their products start with quality, natural raw materials that are tested for purity and identity when they arrive at their facility. Their products undergo gentle processing following the latest standards and comply with strict guidelines for manufacturing natural health products.

Bio-Strath formulates many products a day at its manufacturing facility. Its machines actually fill over 3000 bottles per hour. All of these undergo testing to ensure the final product that’s sold on store shelves is pure, potent and trustworthy.
