This tea is both pleasing and efficient as it fights many aspects of the infection: its antiviral properties reduce the strength of the virus (elder), an immune stimulant increases the immune response (echinacea), its astringent action increases the integrity of the mucus membrane (red raspberry) and reduces congestion and nasal drip (bayberry). Cold & Flu Tea is also an expectorant, mucolytic and diaphoretic (peppermint, elder).

Elder flower: the antiviral properties of elder reduce symptoms of cold and flu such as runny nose, nasal congestion, cough and sore throat. As a diaphoretic, it also reduces fever caused by infection and reduces inflammation of the respiratory tract lining and promotes expectoration.

Peppermint: diaphoretic and febrifuge, peppermint reduces fever caused by cold and flu. It liquefies mucus and helps expel it from the respiratory tract. As a decongestant, it clears the sinuses. Peppermint is also antiseptic and antibacterial and it improves the taste of the tea.

Red Raspberry: the tannins in red raspberry make it a mild astringent effective against sore throats. It tones the lining of the respiratory tract, protecting it against infection. It is also antimicrobial.

Echinacea: it is known for its capacity to tone the immune response. Its action on hyaluronic acid is well documented and explains its short and middle-term effects of the immune response, as it strengthens the tissues natural barriers. Echinacea is used for all types of infections, either viral or bacterial, and more specifically for infections of the upper respiratory tract.

Bayberry: it stimulates blood circulation and has mild antipyretic properties. Its astringent quality reduces the formation of mucus and nasal drip, and it promotes healing of the mucus membranes, particularly that of the throat.
