MucoStop contains a blend of enzymes formulated to break down mucus, which supports the body's ability to balance histamine levels and alleviate sinus and chest discomfort. The active ingredient in MucoStop, Mucolase, is a potent mucolytic enzyme that is effective at breaking down mucus. Mucolase, protease and amylase, are blended to assist in overcoming the symptoms often associated with seasonal challenges.
Nasal/Sinus Congestion
Mucus is a beneficial protein created by the body to protect vital organs and bind up pathogens for removal. Many consumers rely on over the counter sinus products that may cause uncomfortable side effects and shut down the body's immune response. Enzymes offer an opportunity to support the body's natural immune processes.
MucoStop contains a blend of enzymes to support healthy mucus elimination and respiratory function.* The formula features the active ingredient Mucolase, a proteolytic (protein digesting) enzyme with mucolytic properties, (an ability to target and hydrolyze inappropriate or excess mucus.)
What is TheraBlend?
Enzymedica uses an exclusive Thera-blend process for its protease, lipase, amylase and cellulase. This means that each of these enzymes actually represents multiple blends. For example, there are actually three proteases in the Thera-blend protease. They are blended for their ability to break down numerous bonds of protein in varying pH's. Enzymedica does this at a considerable expense. From a label description Enzymedica also sacrifices active units to provide the best blend possible. A single protease, for example, could produce more active units per milligram than a multiple protease blend, however the active pH would be narrow and the number of protein bonds it could break would be limited to one or two per molecule.
Allergy
Allergens can be any substance but the most common ones are dust, pollen, animal hair, animal dander, insect bites, grasses, molds and fungus, cleaning products and metal in costume jewelry. Heredity does appear to play a role in allergies.
If both parents have allergies then the child will have a 70 percent chance of developing allergies. Persons who are not breastfed are also more likely to develop allergies.

The immune system views allergens as a threat to the body. When the allergen contacts a mucous membrane inflammation occurs, due to the release of chemicals such as histamine. It is characterized by redness, itching, swelling and the increased secretion of thin, clear mucous. Allergic symptoms can range from severe and life threatening anaphylactic reactions to hay fever, asthma attacks, rashes, hives and eczema. People with allergies suffer more often from fungal and parasitic infections. Allergies can also be exacerbated when the body is exposed to emotional or physical stress.
Conventional treatment of environmental allergies is targeted at decreasing symptoms. Antihistamines are the most common treatment for moderate allergies. They inhibit the ability of mast cells to release histamine. Steroid nasal sprays also decrease nasal allergy symptoms. Long-term effects of using these sprays may include glaucoma and decreased bone density. Anaphylactic reactions cause the swelling of the air passages. They are treated with injections of nor epinephrine. This hormone causes a sympathetic nervous system response resulting in an opening of the airways.
There are many ways of decreasing allergic reactions. Take only hypoallergenic supplements. Keep rooms free of dust and use an air purification system. Avoid feather and down bedding. Keep windows closed during times when the allergen is present in the air. Pollens are at highest concentrations between 5 and 10 AM and lowest after it rains. Use mold proof paint and disinfectant in the house. Exercise indoors. Do not smoke and eliminate exposure to second hand smoke. Keep plants that remove pollutants from air. These types include bamboo palm, Boston fern, dracaena, English ivy, ficus ali, peace lily, rubber plant and spider plant. Wear protective clothing when handling allergenic substances and wash after using them. Use calendula cream to heal skin reactions. Avoid cantaloupe if you have a ragweed allergy. Cantaloupe contains similar proteins to ragweed. Decrease stress, eat healthy and be well rested. Perform regular cleansing of the liver, kidney and intestinal tract to reduce the build up of allergens in the system.
