What are SalusFlordix and Floravit?
Salustonics are liquid organic plant-based mineral compounds. This state enhances the availability and absorption in the organism. They are in a base of herbal teas, which is slightly digestive bitter tonic teas that enhance absorption, digestive function, as well as colon health. Also available in a base of fruit and vegetable juices to provide anti-oxidants, and other plant nutrients, which enhance mineral absorption in the gut.
Who should take it?
It can be taken by anybody because it is a plant based iron compound which means it is safe. It is very difficult to overdose a plant-based iron as opposed to animal food-based iron that absorbs pretty much indiscriminately.
What is the difference between Floradix and Floravit?
They have slightly different herbal tea combinations as well as the fruit and vegetable juices are slightly differently formulated. One of the main differences is that the Floravit can actually be taken by women during pregnancy and nursing. However, the Floradix contains various herbs that are not considered safe during pregnancy.
Daily Dosage
It doesn't matter which one you're taking. Children from age 6 months onwards should have approximately 10 mg of iron a day. Adult men, 10 mg a day. Adult women during menstruating age, 18 to 20 mg a day. During pregnancy and nursing, the mother should have at least about 27-30mg a day because the infant requires a lot of iron for its development in terms of increasing blood volume. That same goes for children after birth of course, infants during their young development stage have to drastically increase their body weight daily as well as their blood volume.
What happens when deficiency occurs while pregnant?
The child will have deficiency. That means there will be low birth weight, pre-eclampsia. There could be pre-mature birth, postpartum depression. The child will have developmental problems both physical as well as cognitive. 84% of children with ADHD are found to be iron deficient. We have to make sure that you get enough iron. A liquid soluble formula like the Floradix, Floravit of course will be able to ensure that in a very easy and conveniently absorbable form.
Why Choose Floradix Tabs?
A highly soluble iron compound and special iron-fed yeast:Combined with B vitamins & vitamin C to provide the highest possible absorption rate
Highly absorbable iron compounds
Floradix boasts the highest possible iron absorption rate: up to 25%(4)is absorbed for potential utilization (that's more than twice the absorption of other iron supplements or even dietary iron) due to its liquid format as well as the organically bound iron gluconate and co-factors. Better absorption means you don't need to take as much. In a recent study, it was found that due to the high absorption rate of Floradix, very little unabsorbed iron enters into the intestinal tract and therefore constipation is unlikely to occur.
Safe, useable dosage
Because Floradix is so highly absorbable, the dosage can be much lower than other iron supplements while still satisfying daily supplemental iron requirements. As well, there is no risk of excess iron storage(2), making Floradix safe for long-term, daily use.
No harmful additives:No lead, pesticide residues, alcohol, preservatives or artificial colouring
Ideal for vegetarians and vegans
Certified Kosher
Are You Low in Iron?
Iron is one of the most common dietary deficiencies, affecting as many as 4-5 billion people or 66-80% of the world's population, according to the World Health Organization.
Some of the symptoms of iron deficiency are:
- Fatigue and general lack of energy
- Decreased ability to concentrate
- Decreased endurance during exercise
- Increased frequency of infection
- Paleness and/or dark circles under the eyes
- Brittle hair and nails
- Cold hands and feet
Iron deficiency (pre-anemia) and anemia have also been linked to PMS, depression, decreased fertility and complications in pregnancy. An early diagnosis of pre-anemia can be achieved with a simple blood test called serum ferritin, allowing for easy correction and prevention of the progression of symptoms.
Why Do We Need Iron?
Iron is needed daily in order for your body to keep making new red blood cells, which transport oxygen and permit energy production. Vital for growth and optimal functioning, iron is required in varying amounts throughout the stages of your life. Research has shown that declining iron stores are responsible for numerous health concerns.
