HoneyBar is a Canadian healthy snack bar company that helps curb cravings and provides a boost in energy.
Brand History & Evolution of HoneyBar
HoneyBar originated over 30 years ago in 1987 by Frank Sardelis, a baker by trade. He developed the first HoneyBar which was made with only sesame and honey. With humble beginnings as a home-based business, HoneyBar has grown into a worldwide brand. In the mid-1990s, Frank’s daughter took over the company and expanded the company to 100 local stores and crafted six flavours.
Throughout the 2000s, HoneyBar saw many new achievements. In the earlier part of the new millennium, they upgraded their automation and received kosher and HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point) certifications. By 2010 they received BRC (British Retail Consortium) certification which sets the global standards for safety and quality, as well as certification for being gluten-free by the GFCO.
Throughout the mid-2000s, HoneyBar doubled in size and moved to a state-of-the-art facility and with this growth came more flavours and inventory; however, it wasn’t until 2020 that the salted caramel, caramel apple, maple pecan, and pumpkin spice flavours launched in Canada.
HoneyBar believes in the power of natural, nutritious snacks to fuel athletes and everyday journeys. They have an athlete partnership with athletes from Ottawa TFC, Vancouver Whitecaps, and more.

HoneyBar doesn’t skimp on quality when creating and sourcing ingredients for its delicious snack bars and snack bites. These bars pack a nutritional punch by providing energy, fibre, and omega 3’s. They create healthy snack bars made with clean, healthy, non-GMO ingredients and leave out the preservatives, trans fats, cholesterol, gluten, dairy, soy, and artificial ingredients.\
HoneyBar takes pride in earning the trust of its customers and being transparent. To help them with this, they obtain certifications so you can trust their products are safe. They are certified gluten-free by GFCO, BRCGS Certified by Guelph Food Technology Center, and kosher pareve certified, this certification means their products don’t have cross contamination or come into contact with meat or dairy derivatives.
