CANADA DAY STRAWBERRY PIZZA
A Canada Day celebration isn't complete without a barbecue, fireworks show and of course, dessert. Being a proud Canadian company ourselves, we had to create the most perfect dessert that’s satisfying and celebrates our nation.
Since the Canadian flag symbolizes unity and pride, what better way to show off your patriotism than by making a dessert that represents our flag and is perfect for sharing.
This Canada Day Strawberry Pizza is red, white, and delicious. It's easy to make, will wow your guests, and rather then being filled with sugar, gluten and scary red food colouring, this recipe is made with ingredients that are good for you.
What’s great about this recipe is you can also be a bit creative by adding organic coconut whipped cream in the centre to dip your strawberry pizza slices in, or by using our mango sorbet recipe to make a coconut sorbet for the centre filling. The options are endless!
Now all you need are red napkins to serve it on, and slice up the perfect serving of patriotism this Canada Day.

- 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoon warm water
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

- 1/2 teaspoon coconut sugar

- 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Red Side Stripes
- 1/2 cup fruit juice sweetened strawberry jam
- 3 cups fresh organic strawberries, sliced thin
White Backing
- 1/2 cup coconut butter, melted
- 1/2 cup unsweetened long shredded coconut
DIRECTIONS
CRUST
- Set your oven to 400F
- Combine your first eight crust ingredients together into a large bowl, and mix to combine. Set aside.
- In a small glass or measuring cup, dissolve your coconut sugar into water and stir. Next, add in your yeast and set aside to combine for five minutes.
- Stir your yeast mixture into your flour bowl, and whisk together. Followed by the oil, egg and vinegar.
- Using your elbow grease, start beating and kneading the dough/batter until well combined. It won’t be as sticky as regular bread dough, but it should still hold form.
- Take your pre-lined baking sheet and use your hands to press the dough into the bottom of the pan, spreading out like a pizza crust. Set aside to rest for 10-20 minutes.
- Using a spatula spread a thin layer of oil onto the dough, sprinkle on your cinnamon and sugar.
- Bake crust until golden brown, for roughly 10 minutes. Set aside to cool.
TOPPINGS
- Take all of your maple leaf ingredients and blend together until smooth. Drop mixture onto a flat sheet of parchment paper, making sure it is evenly spread before placing a second piece of paper on top of the mixture. Mixture shouldn’t be more than ½ inch thick. Place in the freezer for 5 minutes or so, and then using a cookie cutter, cut out your leaf. Set aside or in the fridge if sticky.
- Take a brush or spoon and create a thin layer of jam on either side of the crust to make the solid red parts. Next, take your cut strawberries and line the jam.
- Take your melted butter and spread it onto the middle section of the crust until it is fully coated. Gently top the butter with shredded coconut flakes.
- Place your maple leaf in the middle and you’re ready to serve!
MAKE IT THIS WAY
You can make this recipe egg-free by substituting the egg with a flax seed egg.
Flax seed egg substitute:
- The measurement below replaces one egg
- 1 tbsp finely ground flax seed
- 3 tbsp warm water
- Combine both ingredients into a glass and allow it to sit for five minutes. Add to recipe as you would normally.
TRY THIS
If you’re celebrating Independence Day with our neighbors to the south, you can use the same base and same ingredients for colours, just use blueberries to mimic the blue.
