An Indispensable Product in My First Aid Kit
A very good remedy. Very effective. Cures serious inflammations in the throat in a couple of times. In addition, it strengthens the immune system. I order different flavours every time. However, I think the honey flavor is more suitable for children, while adults will probably like the cherry flavour better. Personally, I like both flavours.

Bad Taste
Could not get the orange ones that we have used many times. Husband could not tolerate the taste of these. I don't like them either but can tolerate them. Will never buy again!

Natural Factors Zinc Lozenges zinc's ability to prevent or counteract infections has made zinc lozenges a valued supplement for use at the first signs of a cold or sore throat. This delicious tablet should be dissolved in the mouth for full benefit.

Zinc
Zinc is a regulator of the immune system ensuring that cells for identifying and killing microbes, viruses and other cells are in good working order. Zinc is a cofactor for the antioxidant system superoxide dismutase (SOD). Antioxidants neutralize free radicals. They are unstable molecules that in their bid to become more stable must bump into healthy cells and cause damage. Zinc also speeds wound healing and is used for the healing of burns and surgical incisions. Zinc is involved in the sensory organs, the eyes, nose and taste buds.

One of the first signs of zinc deficiency can be altered taste and smell. Zinc regulates the activity of insulin, for blood sugar control, thyroid hormone, for metabolism and the digestion of sugar and protein. Natural health practitioners use zinc for a variety of health concerns including; acne, benign prostatic hyperplasia, colds, flus, diabetes, diaper rash, stomach ulcers, macular degeneration, impotence, osteoporosis, eczema and wound healing.

Avoid Cold & Flu By Supporting the Immune System
Colds and flus can be treated effectively with natural therapies that both kill the infecting organism and support the immune system. Lingering or recurrent infection is a signal of an immune system that is overwhelmed. Natural therapies are also helpful in these cases, to restore disease resistance.

Conventional treatment involves the use of antibiotics if the cold has become bacterial. This usually takes care of the current infection. However, the body becomes susceptible to subsequent infections if the friendly bacteria are not replaced. The overuse of antibiotics has also lead to antibiotic resistant strains of various organisms. Individuals can help to minimize resistance by using antibiotics sparingly and always taking recommendations until they are finished.

Dietary approaches to colds and flus are as follows. Increase fluid intake to decrease the viscosity of mucous secretions. A diet high in raw fruits and vegetables provides a good source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Onions and garlic are good sources of substances that make up anti-inflammatory compounds and help to kill microbes. Flaxseed and fish oils contain essential fatty acids that are anti-inflammatory. Avoid animal products because they contain inflammatory precursors. Avoid dairy products, processed foods, white flour and sugar products all of which increase mucous production.
